Discovering rural Europe
On the 17th of July a Caravan departed from the Dutch village Wijk aan Zee for a 100 days travel through rural Europe.
The aim was to listen to people living in the countryside. Who are the people that live there, and what is their conception of life? Starting in the Netherlands, the Caravan traveled through Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary, Serbia, Rumania, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, France, Spain, France, Great Britain, Belgium and Luxemburg.
In over 100 days, the Caravan visited 25 countries and did return to the Netherlands on the 26th of October.
Consisting of a Scania truck, a minibus, several campers and a changing amount of personal cars, the Caravan covered some 13,000 km, making stopovers at 50 places. The number of people traveling along fluctuated between 20 and 40.
