25 photographers from different countries participated in the competition for photographers. From Croatia, Great Britain, France, the Czech Republic and Holland.
Some famous dutch photographers as Peter Rutink, Marloes Krijnen and Leo Vogelzang indicated the winner.
In this way has been found a photographer who all his life was occupied with villagelife. This was the reason for the Czech photographer from Sovinec Jindøich Štreit to enter a contest for the first time. It was 100% his subject and the contest landed in his path.
The jury agreed unanimously he should get the award. The photographs he sent were taken in 1992 and 93 in Austrias countryside.
Jindøich Štreit was born in Valaska, Moravia on th 5th of september. When he was ten years old he moved to the village of Jesseník, studied at the teacher training college of Olomouc, department of art history. He married in 1971 to Agnes and they have a daughter Monika.
He became principal at the grade school of Sovinec. A village with 20 inhabitants. Besides his schoolwork he occupied.

The other pricewinners were Gineke de Rooy, Amsterdam and Manfred Wirtz, Monnickendam. Ginke de Rooy pictured the new village that came into life on the place of the formerly Amsterdamse Droogdok Maatschappij, formerly a place for reparation of ships.
Manfred Wirtz pictured the village Salistea de Sus in the Rumanian Karpat Mountains.
